The Public Relations Division is responsible for public education on fire safety issues and is a part of the Fire Marshal’s Office for the Crosby Volunteer Fire Department. The PR Division offers fire station tours and public appearance of apparatus at special events. The list below describes the options available. Due to the demand in responding to emergency calls and number of PR requests, we must adhere to the following procedures below. Please carefully read the different types of events in which we can schedule.
We prefer that the request be submitted more than 2 weeks prior to the event. If interested in scheduling an event, please read the below options and click on the button below and fill out the PR Request form with the details of your event. Once the request is received by the PR Division and the approval and scheduling process will begin. Our PR Lieutenant or Chief Fire Marshal will reach out to you regarding your request.
Station Tours
Tours need be scheduled a minimum of two weeks prior to the event to allow for planning. Tours will consist of a safety discussion by a Public Relations and/or department representative, a quick tour of the station, and a look at the apparatus. Tours last for generally an hour. If you belong to a scouting group and have specific topics you need to cover in order to acquire a badge, please clearly outline your needs in the event request form.
Public Appearances
Fire Department apparatus can come to approved schools, churches and public events. Firefighters are available to teach fire safety issues and talk about rewarding careers in the Fire and Emergency Medical Service as well as volunteer opportunities with the Crosby Volunteer Fire Department. Appearances for businesses are extremely restricted and must have approval by a Chief Officer prior to scheduling. Business events will only be considered if they are clearly related to public education for fire safety issues.
Schools
With October being national fire safety month, this is when we typically schedule visits to elementary schools and daycares. The fire crews will give educational presentations and demonstrate the apparatus and equipment. These events are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. Please submit your school's request as soon as possible.
Public Speaker
A Public Relations member or one of the Chief Officers can speak to any group or organization about the Fire Department or a variety of fire and life safety issues. Please indicate on your request what topic you would like our speaker to discuss. Requests for a speaker should be made with at least a month’s notice.
Birthday Parties
We understand that many of our young future members love fire trucks and firefighting, and thus would love to have a fire truck and firefighters visit their next birthday party. Residents of Crosby may request a fire truck to visit their birthday party by using the PR Request Form on this page. Birthday party appearances are subject to approval and need to be made at least two weeks in advance.
**As an emergency response organization our primary commitment is to the safety and well-being of the community we serve. While we value our relationships with our community members and strive to maintain positive interactions, it is crucial to understand that in the event of an emergency, our priority must be to respond promptly and effectively. This means that if an emergency arises, we may have to leave scheduled events or even cancel them without prior notice to ensure a swift and focused response. We appreciate your understanding and support as we work diligently to keep or community safe. **
